Mr Woodhouse   Written by Bridget D (2/5/2011 2:21 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yes, how true. It must have been a trial to Emma when, penned by AnnetteJ
Are you new?

I dont see that. I dont see that JA means Mr W to be a figure of fun or sneered at.

She tells us that Mr Woodhouse is well liked, even though he's not very intelligent...(most of Highbruy's residents are none too clever anyway) and not just becuase of his social position. He has friends like Miss Bates who like him is a great "talker on little matters" and suits him as a conversationalist. I dont see that Emma's embarrassed by "company calling" who would require more stimulating conversation. I'd say the idea of being embarrassed by her father would never enter her head, albeit she's soemtimes bored and stressed by hte strain of keeping him cheerful.
