in more complete self-approbation than he left for [Emma]   Written by Stephanie (2/3/2011 5:35 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Because she has deliberately blinded herself to the, penned by AnnetteJ
Are you new?

Actually, I rather think that Emma is used to Mr. Knightley being right, and does not like it. She wants that aura for herself.

The end of ch. 8 when Emma is very uncomfortable with his anger and disapproval means to me that she would rather he was not violently opposed to her schemes. It bothers her, not because he might be an obstacle, but because he is touching on all the points that she knows make her plans impertinent and questionable.

If Mr. Knightley is not swayed by her arguments, she must internally doubt them herself.
