Absolutely   Written by locarol (2/2/2011 3:08 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Do we agree with Mr. Knightley's assessment, penned by Lauren Ashley
Are you new?

No matter how smart or not Harriet is, she is the natural child of an unknown person. That is a stigma on her forever. No matter how much money or how high the class of her father, he chose to not acknowledge her. Instead he just paid for her education.

In the early nineteenth century that meant she was tainted forever. Awful but true. Mr Knightley had it right. No one of substance would risk being associated with Harriet. Mr Martin is above Harriet in class and would be an excellent match for her.
