I would like to say here that all necessary masters could refer to different types of masters -- e.g. music, singing, drawing, literature, foreign languages -- and the masters would be of different rank socially depending on their qualifications -- since Mrs Goddard's school was not a fashionable establisment, the masters employed there would not be so highly qualified, but they would have some basic qualifications.
