To be good at something...   Written by Rabab (2/1/2011 11:39 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I don't get the feeling that..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

I think what is driving Emma is that she wants to have something that she can be good at and excel... her own success story.

And since she seems to be averse to serious study, or industry and patience in the pursuit of accomplishments, matchmaking seems to be a pleasant and un-taxing way to occupy herself, and feel herself successful (after the early encouragement afforded by the success of the Taylor-Weston match.)

And since she has settled it with herself that Harriet would be the perfect wife for Mr Elton, she is ready to move heaven and earth to have her plan succeed!

Matchmaking seems to be an outlet for her imaginative, speculative nature. If only she could take a leaf out of her author's book and try her hand at making matches in books instead of real-life! :D
