been "impossible" for her to visit Harriet if she had married Mr Martin? She can visit Mrs and Miss Bates but not the Martins? Is this all in her head or was the class structure that rigid? After all, Anne Elliott visited Mrs Smith in Bath (we know that her father objected, but I can't see Mr Woodhouse objecting).
