a humorous reflection   Written by steph g (1/31/2011 8:16 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr Woodhouse -- I would run screaming from the room!, penned by AnnetteJ
Are you new?

I agree, this chapter is full of humorous moments!

In a subtler moment, JA pokes fun at Emma's need for flattery in the previous lines, talking about John:

Nothing wrong in him escaped her...Perhaps she might have passed over more had his manners been flattering to Isabella's sister, but they were only those of a calmly kind brother and friend, without praise and without blindness (Chapter 11)

Perhaps Emma is more tolerant of her family because they continually dote upon her, whereas John Knightley does not get the same treatment??
