Im sorry.... mabye I have "spoilered"... but in the early chapters Mr Knightley's arguement iwth Mrs Weston is really about Harriet's bieng a "bad friend" for Emma to make... becuase she is so inferior to her socially and intellectually that she can only give Emma an even more inflated idea of her own importanace than she already has....
