Harriet   Written by Bridget D (1/29/2011 2:55 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Hmmm. I'm beginning to give up..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

well you could problaby call her shallow.. She is easily led as is obvious. But I see no evidence that she is materialistic or that she's bene scheming ot marry ROb M becuase he's a good catch. She describes the farm and the comfortable lifestyle there out of a simple pleasure in it, and in hte nice people that she's lived witht there...What else would she talk about, except the domestic and farming arrangements, as she understands them? she's not very bright, she jsut talks about simple things....and of course she is aware in her way of material things, such as hte cows, the 2 parlours, the comfort and prosperity of the farm etc...

If she were aiming to marry Robert for his money, she coudl probably have gotten a proposal in a visit of 2 months length....
as for her annoyance about his not getting hte novels, it seems clear that she was delighted ot see him, and did not think anything of his forgetting the novels until Emma put it into her head to feel that it was a fault in him....
