well yes, but for her, there's not! she's not in their circle..

I agree that she's snotty about them, but part of that is really to try and persuade Harriet not to marry RM.. she knows "really" that he's a respectable yougn man, even if his manners are problaby not those of a gentleman, and that he is intelligent and likely to do well, but she is trying (wrongly but not entirely badly - I think that she does wish Harriet to be happy as well as to keep her as a friend) to detach H from thinking of him so she's playing up the differnces between him and that "real gentleman" Mr Elton...
