The word snob didn't even exist then.   Written by Reeba (1/28/2011 6:52 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, 21st Century Emma, penned by Sarah Yorkshire
Are you new?

This concept was unknown at that time. The class system was an integral part of society.

We don't reject films of kings and queens of the past, just because we believe in democracy. :)

In Emma there are signs of change.
Robert Martin is educated, reads novels, is doing well as a farmer.
This is a significant step. I guess, in time rest will follow to change the society.

I have enjoyed these 6 chapters of the first week.
There's lots to smile/snort/ or even laugh at, with a caricatured image of Emma and Harriet busily going about this business, in my head.
