Are you new?

Are there any first-readers of Emma out there that are getting bogged down and discouraged? Hang in there because I'll share my initial experience.

Emma was my very first introduction into Jane Austen's realm. I came oh-so-very close to calling it quits also, not only because of Emma's very contrary and enigmatic personality, but also Miss Austen's enormous and bewildering array of characters - something I was not at all accustomed to. THANK GOD I persevered because after about 100+ pages the story seemed to take off like a runaway train for me and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

It makes me shudder to think that if I had initially quit on Emma, Miss Austen's wonderful world would have been forever closed off to me. Read on, dear Pemberleans......
