Well, I guess that is one way of looking at her. I have Written by AnnetteJ (1/28/2011 8:29 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Appreciating Emma, penned by Sarah Yorkshire

made allowances for her youth and inexperience in the world, but bigotry is not IMO the same as being open. I remember when reading The Magnificent Ambersons that the townspeople were itching for the younger Memefe to "get his comeupance" for his spoiled behavior -- it seems that Mr Knightly is the only one of the characters who wants that for Emma as a way of tempering her over-indulged nature. Emma has never had to answer to anyone with the possible exception of Mr Knightly and I am on his side.
