She thinks to herself "...what has all that to do with taking likenesses...Don't pretend to be in raptures about mine" She obviously wants him to pay attention to Harriet. Now why is Elton waxing eloquently about Emma's art?? Hmm! And now a question: Would a woman of Emma's rank consider a vicar to be an acceptable spouse for her??
