Emma had all this, while Harriet had only beauty. As for the Miss Bennets and Miss Dashwoods, they had some social rank as well as beauty -- they were gentleman's daughters who could not inherit their fathers' estates (because of sexism!), and whose mothers was either of lower birth (Mrs Bennet) or had no money(Mrs Dashwood). But they were entitled to be treated as gentlemen's daughters. They could not be compared with Harriet in that society. However, even Marianne did not marry a MUCH richer man -- Col Brandon's estate was 2,000 a year, the same as Mr Beneet's estate. Anyway, they occupied a different social status from Harriet -- a social climbing well-to-do tradesman might think himself fortunate to marry a gentleman's daughter with little or no money. But nobody knew who Harriet's father was, and even if he was a gentleman (which was not certain), there was also that society's prejudice agaisnt illegitimacy.
