I always thought.it referred to guests...   Written by Anne-Marie (1/27/2011 6:40 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, bridepeople, penned by Nikki N
Are you new?

I had always assumed that "bridepeople" were those who came to the wedding or reception. Admittedly there is nothing in the text to back me up on this, but we are told that there was a wedding cake, and I have fancied that Mr. Woodhouse (despite his opposition to marriage and cake!) and Emma would have given a little reception for the newlywed couple at Hartfield. So after the "bridepeople" leave, Emma and her father are, for the first time, left to themselves.
