Disliking Emma - the reader's dilemma Written by Melinda Mary (1/27/2011 5:53 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Martins sound like people most of us would like to, penned by AnnetteJ

I have always had a strong reaction to this section to the book, and I imagine many people have given up on continuing reading Emma after she shows such contempt for Robert Martin. I like how JA shows Mrs. Weston and Mr. Knightly debating Emma's merits, just as we are at that point in the book in deciding to keep with it! (Chapter 5).
