Excellent research and insight, Thank you.

Methinks Miss Austen is somewhat thumbing her nose at the social rank of that day because in just about all of her other works she emphasizes the quality and character of people and families that cut across all class distinctions.

It is also obvious that the Martins love Harriet for who she is and not for her background, upbringing, or fortune.
