in consequence of the missive, Harriet was Emma's doll, penned by Glenn
This is, however, very human. I mean, that Emma, who had decided that Mr. Elton 'needed' a wife, and is now on the lookout for one for him, finds herself interested in Harriet Smith as a project. Her first impulse, to find out her parentage, fizzles. Past unavailable, she turns to Harriet's future, and links her two interests!
