Mrs. Weston may think highly of Emma's maturity, but that certainly does not mean that Emma will make no mistakes, as she admits herself. Mrs. Weston's problem with Mr. Knightley's interference is not that Emma needs no guidance now, but that in this case, there is no need for concern. Indeed, she thinks that any such will not bring Mr. Knightly the desired result -- it will make things worse.
