a housekeeper, because I can't see Emma cooking! Austen didn't write much about servants, except perhaps for Mrs.Reynolds in P&P, did she? I tend to wonder why she didn't -- does anyone know or have a theory as to why these important people in the household were almost non-existant in her works.
