or for another family, before being hired by Mr Woodhouse, however -- so I don't think her age tells us much. And even if Mrs Woodhouse taught Isabella, I think she must have died 2 or more years before Miss Taylor arrived -- and I think Isabella would have had a governess (or perhaps she attended Mrs Goddard's school). Merely speculating, however, since nothing can be proven either way. :-)

I do believe there's a housekeeper at Hartfield, however, even though we don't hear of one.
