in consequence of the missive, Mrs. Goddard & Mr. Woodhouse, penned by Robbin
to Isabella? Miss Taylor was with the Woodhouse family from the time Emma was 5, which means that Isabella would have been 12 (I believe she is 7 years older based on what Mr Knightley says in Chapter 5). Since Emma doesn't remember her mother, I have assumed she was 3 or younger when Mrs Woodhouse died, and perhaps Mrs Goddard was the first governess?
I do think that Mr Woodhouse helped Mrs Goddard in some way regarding her school.
