Harriet was Emma's doll Written by Glenn (1/26/2011 12:24 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Emma the Snob -- her terrible attitude toward Robert, penned by AnnetteJ

Emma manipulated Harriet so that she could choose her husband- Mr. Elton. Harriet was forbidden to choose her own husband- Mr. Martin. Emma invented the idea that Harriet was the "natural" daughter of a gentleman so that she could associate with her. She would use her imagination more than once to break society's rules. Yes, Emma was intelligent but she also had a powerful Id.

This was the first time I became so angry with Emma that I had to put the novel down and stop reading for a while.
