Weston's first marriage   Written by Martina C (1/26/2011 12:12 p.m.)
Are you new?

We get a descripton of Mr. Weston's first marriage at the start of chapter two but what I never really noticed before in my other readings was that it was not a very happy marriage. It makes you wonder what their marriage would have been like if it had lasted. We are told that the first Mrs. Weston only married to spite her brother and that she soon started to regret rushing in to an unequal marriage as she did not have the same style of living with Mr. Weston as she had with her brother. I'm sure Mr. Weston's happy outlook on life would have seen him through but what kind of wife and mother would his wife have been. It makes you see how much Miss Taylor suited Mr. Weston as a second chance at happiness in marriage.
