|Even were she worlds away ...

in consequence of the missive, On My Own, penned by Eponine Thenardier
Whilst I am exceedingly sorry for your pain, I should put aside your pride and deliver the letter. Further torment shall ensue if that missive goes unread and I myself have found letter-writing the best aid in eliminating misunderstanding and miscommunication; in circumstances bound up in propriety and idle chatter, in words better unheard, better unsaid, there is little opportunity to often say what we truly mean and feel. This young lady may be worlds away; but perhaps with her, this gentleman's world has started. I will therefore advise against further attempts to make your poor friend forget his preference; Miss Bingley, after all, is still single and such vanity is a weakness indeed. Distance and time are no balm for the most fervent of inclinations; I should attempt to be happy for him and humbly seek your happiness elsewhere.
