in consequence of the missive, I did something I probably shouldn't have..., penned by Jane Eyre (from Canada)
If this gentleman looks at you a good deal, I am sure that he may be more attached to you than you may believe. Mr. Darcy stared at my dear friend Elizabeth every time they meant. She scoffed when I suggested he cared for her, and I was proved quite right when they were later married. Does this gentleman seem fixated on you. Is there an intensity in his gaze? If there is, there is hope.
Anyway, in my experience when there is even a slight chance of an attachment, a woman had much better show as much feeling as possible. If you enjoy this gentleman's company, you must show it more if you mean to attach him. My dear Lizzie did not believe this, but surely she thinks differently now after her sister Jane went through so much grief by being too discrete with her feelings.
Finally if Mr. Darcy is any good indication, just because a woman has all the accomplishments in the world, it does not mean a gentleman will propose to her. So have courage Ms Eyre. I do most sincerely hope that you will find a comfortable establishment with an eligible partner.
