in consequence of the missive, I cannot stand this any more!, penned by Valancy Stirling
How very romantic! And how sad! Though you are not so very young, your dying seems like from a novel. My tears flow...
Mr Woodhouse was quite distressed but very intrigued by having heard about your illness, though it seemed to me that Miss Woodhouse was a little uneasy and perhaps even a bit angry at me that I mentioned your letter in front of him... But I couldn't help it, your letter was the best bit of news I had all morning!
Mr Woodhouse says you must send for Perry at once and that your family must take a good care of you. He also recommends that you eat at least a bowl of gruel a day. Also, see enclosed some arrowroot of very superior quality from the Heartfield stores. Miss Woodhouse's compliments.
Pardon my letter being so very short. I know short letters never do their writers a credit, but I am not so clever as my friend Miss Woodhouse. She would know what to write better.
Yours affectionate friend
