...found an answer. I worked for over a week with Bleeping Computer.com and, while they were tireless in trying to help me find the reason why the RoP HELP Board started loading verrrrrry slowly (a message at lower-left corner would pop up saying waiting for ad.turn.com -- they never answered my question; never told me what ad.turn.com was, even though I asked them repeatedly. (Obviously, they didn't know.) When I hovered over it with my mouse, the message would skip to the right; if I followed it and hovered, again, it would skip to left.
Eventually, after a massive cleaning of my PC, they concluded I had no PC viruses -- just what they called "crapware" -- that was slowing down some RoP pages. After the Bleeping cleaning, RoP's HELP board started loading fairly quickly, again.
My problems started when I downloaded Google Chrome. I think the combination of removing Chrome and Bleeping's massive cleaning of "crapware" worked to make things go back to normal. (I do understand Chrome works wonderfully for others -- but not for me -- at least not with my present PC/WinXP setup.)
