Thanks! :P   Written by Stephanie (3/8/2013 11:35 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, A very good letter..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

Seriously, I am never satisfied with any phrasing I invent.

Naturally, I think, I should not be as good as Emma herself (via the awesome Author Austen), but even after sweating it, I can not approach anything I could imagine Emma putting her name to, and Emma did it, while in the throes of heavy emotion, in a morning before breakfast!

Ivan, in ch. 50, Emma actually decides to confine her contact with Harriet to letter. I assumed that Emma, still being Emma, would want the limits she had chosen laid out early in her information to Harriet.

[Emma] could only resolve at last, that she would still avoid a meeting with [Harriet], and communicate all that need be told by letter; [...] a separation for the present; an averting of the evil day, when they must all be together again.
