About Right   Written by Ivan (3/3/2013 10:30 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, explanations, penned by Stephanie
Are you new?

I think you conveyed it perfectly, all the ideas are there. I think Emma is disappointed that she will cause Harriet another pain but yet, she is happy that she has discovered that Mr. Knightley is the perfect match for her in terms of personality and characteristics.

"I could not do otherwise, but do not imagine that I did not know that my future prospects would cause you mortification and loss. Dear Harriet, I write you an explanation that is certain to injure you, and yet, please believe me that I am still your friend, and alive to all your merits. Let us stay asunder for the immediate future, and continue our amity by letters only."

I thought that jealousy let her to discover that Mr. Knightley would be a perfect match. I'll go even further to say that she might have even written reconsidering Mr. Martin in the letter. I don't think she would write "continue our amity by letters only." I'd say that she wants Harriet to get over Mr. Knightley quickly.
