The only character I can think of that Professor Dunbar’s quote applies to is Charlotte Lucas and maybe Elizabeth Elliot though she seems to be rating herself too high. Certainly none of JA’s heroines are assessing where they are in the mating market and pitching their demands accordingly. The idea of waiting for a “Mr. Darcy” as if he’s some kind of romantic ideal seems to me to ignore much of the book.
I also agree with what Ramya says above about the article being a jumble. I don’t see why Austen’s name came into this at all.
